Peanuts masala

Peanuts masala or masala kadalai as it is referred in Tamil is a crispy ,tasty and easy to prepare snack item that goes well especially during  travel and rainy seasons.


Peanuts (Ground nuts) — 1 cup

Besan flour                   — 1 cup

Turmeric powder         — ½ tsp

Hing                             — ½ tsp

Chilli powder               — 1 tsp

Salt                              — to taste

Water                          — 3-4 tbsp

Oil                               — for deep fry

Preparation time         : 05 minutes

Cooking time              : 10 minutes

Makes                          : Around 1 ¾ cup


Step 1

Take 1 cup Besan flour ( Bengal gram flour) in a vessel. Add turmeric powder, hing powder and chilli powder




Step 2

Add salt to taste, 1 tsp hot oil. Mix well



Step 3

Transfer 1/2 the mixture to another vessel. then add  3-4 tbsp water . Mix well.




Step 4

Add 1 cup ground nets to wet mixture. Mix well again so that ground nuts are coated with the mixture paste. Add this to the dry flour and mix well so that the ground nuts are fully coated with the mixture paste.



Step 5

Heat oil in a pan. Add the peanuts to the oil and allow frying. Stir well regularly. When oil subsides, take the peanuts using a steel ladle into a strainer to allow the oil to drain out.

The peanuts masala (Masala kadalai) is now ready
