Kai Murukku (Chakli)

Kai Murukku (Chakli) is a tasty dish prepared during functions and festivals.


  • Raw rice flour* – 1¼ cup
  • Roasted Urad dhal flour** – ¼ cup
  • Sesame(Til) seeds – ½ tsp
  • Hing – ½ tsp
  • Salt – ¾ tsp
  • Butter – 20 grams
  • Oil (for deep fry)

Note:1)* Soak raw rice for 1 to 1 ½ hours. Drain it and dry it in muslin cloth. After 1 hour grind in a mixie or flour mill. Sieve it nicely.

2)** Roast urad dhal till it becomes golden colour, grind in a mixie and sieve it 2-3 times. If not done properly, the dough when put in oil will burst and could cause injuries.

Preparation time  : 30 min

Cooking time         : 15  min
