Rasam is an integral part of South Indian meals and is generally taken along with rice. It makes a good appetizer and is also served as a starter in some restaurants.
In this post, I have explained how to make quick Instant Rasam in just 5min using the Instant Rasam Mix (detailed in the earlier blog).
Cooking time: 5min -6min
Makes: 1 liter of rasam
- Tomatoes (medium size) – 2 nos.chopped
- Instant Rasam powder mix – 1/4 cup
- Water – 4 cups
- Salt – to taste (2 tsp)
- Ghee – 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves
- Coriander leaves, finely chopped
Both step by step text instruction as well as video instructions are given.
Pour two cups of water in a bowl and allow it to boil. Once the water starts to boil, add the chopped tomatoes and further allow it to boil for two minutes.
Add instant Rasam powder and continue boiling for another 2-3 minutes.
Add salt and then add two more cups of water.Stir well. Do not allow the rasam to boil.
In a separate pan allow the mustard seeds to crackle in ghee. Then add the curry leaves to it.
Garnish the rasam with chopped coriander leaves, mustard seeds and curry leaves.
Switch off the stove. Tasty Rasam is ready to be served.
