Aloo Matar Paneer Masala ( Potato green peas cheese masala) Home Style

Aloo Matar Paneer Masala ( Potato green peas cheese masala) is a tasty north indian side dish made with vegetables like potato (Aloo), Green peas(Matar) with paneer (cottage cheese) in onion and tomato gravy. The recipe which i use is a simple and easy to make with home style taste. You can use this as a side dish for phulkas, Naan,Rotis and with steamed rice.


Potato 2 med.size

Green peas 1/3 cup

Paneer(cottage cheese) 150 grams

Onion 2 med.size

Garlic 8 cloves


Ginger 1 inch piece sliced

Tomato 2 med.size

Green Chili 1 no.

Coriander seeds 2 tsp

Cumin seeds 1 tsp

Turmeric powder ¼ tsp

Chili powder 1 tsp

Garam masala 1 tsp

Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaf) 1 tsp

Coriander leaves 2 tbsp

Oil 2 tbsp

Preparation time = 10 min

Cooking time = 20 min

Makes 4 persons



Text Procedure

Step 1

Heat Oil in pan and roast coriander seeds. Add shredded onions,garlic and ginger. Saute well till onion color changes to light pink.

Step 2

Add tomato. Saute well till tomato softens.

Step 3

Keep aside 10 minutes. Transfer to mixie jar. Add 1/4 cup water. Grind to fine paste.

Step 4

Heat Oil in pan. Add cumin seeds,chili powder, turmeric powder and grind to fine onion tomato paste.

Step 5

Cook 2-3 minutes

Step 6

Add diced potatos and green peas. Add salt and one cup water. Close lid till the vegetables are cooked.

Step 7

Add paneer cubes.Cook 2-3 minutes. Step 8 Add crushed kasuri methi ( dried fenugreek leaf) and coriander leaves. Mix well Step 9 Serve hot delicious Aloo matar panner masala with phulkas, rotis, parathas or with steamed rice.
