Vegetable Bhajji Dosa- Dosa with a difference

This is a very healthy, crispy and crunchy variation of dosa made out of vegetable bhajjis. It can be made instantly as it does not involve any pre-preparation.

It can be served along with tomato sauce or tamarind  sweet chutney.

Makes                    :           6 medium sized dosa

Ingredients

  • Besan (gram flour/ kadale mavu) – 1 cup
  • Rice Flour- 1/2 cup
  • Curd- 1/4 cup (optional)
  • Chili powder- 1 tsp
  • Turmeric- 1/4 tsp
  • Omum/Ajwain- 1 tsp
  • Salt -1 tsp
  • Ridge gourd, peeled and sliced into thin rings – 25 slices
  • Onion, peeled and sliced into thin rings – 25 slices
  • Potato, peeled and sliced into thin rings- 25 slices
  • Brinjal, peeled and sliced into thin rings- 25 slices
  • Water- 1 cup.

Procedure

Step 1:

Take the besan, rice flour in a bowl.

To it, add ajwain, chili powder,turmeric powder,salt,curd and mix well.

 

Step 2:

Then add water and mix well to make a smooth batter. The batter should not be too runny or too thick.

Step 3:

Place a tawa on the stove and heat it. Once it is hot, add a tsp of oil.

Step 4:

Take a slice of potato, dip in batter to coat it evenly and place it on the tawa. Next take the onion slice, dip it in batter and place it next to the potato slice. Repeat the same procedure for the brinjal and ridge gourd slices. Alternate between the vegetable slices and arrange them in a circle as shown in the picture.

I have used 12-13 vegetable slices in each dosa.

Step 5:

Cover it with a lid and allow it to cook on medium flame.

Step 6:

Once it turns golden brown, flip it to the other side. Add a tsp of oil and allow this side to cook as well.

Step 7:

After both sides are done, remove it from the tawa.

Step 8:

Hot,crunchy and tasty vegetable bhajji dosa is ready to be served.
