
Stuffed Paniyaram
There may be days when you are tired of eating idly and dosa. Here is what you can do with the left over idly batter- STUFFED PANIYARAMs! This is a very tasty and healthy snack which does not require too much effort to make.
Ingredients
- Idli batter —- 2 cups
- Boiled Potatoes —- 3, medium size, mashed
- Carrot, Cabbage, Capsicum Mix(grated) —- 1 cup
- Onion —- 2, medium size chopped
- Green peas (boiled) —- 1/4 cup
- Chili powder —- 1 tsp
- Asafoetida(Hing) powder —- 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder —- 1/4 tsp
- Coriander leaves( Chopped) —- 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds —- 1 tsp
- Curry leaves —- 1 tsp
- Salt —– to taste
- Oil
Preparation time: 15 min
Cooking time :15 min
Makes : 30 nos.
Step 1
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard, curry leaves, hing powder and allow the mustard to crackle.
Step 2
Add chopped onions and saute till colour changes to golden brown. Add the chopped capsicum, cabbage, grated carrot, cooked green peas and mashed potato. Mix thoroughly and cook them for a few minutes.
Step 3
Add turmeric powder, coriander leaves, chili powder and salt. Take it off the flame and allow it to cool.
Step 4
Roll the mixture into lemon sized balls.
Step 5
In the paniyaram tawa, heat oil. Dip the vegetable balls in idly batter and place it in the paniyaram tawa slots.
Step 6
Cook in medium flame both sides of the paniyaram.
Tasty paniyaram is ready. It can be served with green chutney or coconut chutney.
