Sri Ramanavami Special Recipes- Panagam,Vada Paruppu,Neer Mor

Sri Ramanavami Festival recipe includes Panagam,Vadaparuppu and Neer moru or Spiced buttermilk. These items have a cooling effect on the body and hence ideally this can be prepared often during summer.

Ingredients

Panagam

Jaggery  – 1/2 cup

Water    – 2 cups

Dry Ginger Powder  – 1 tbsp

Cardamom Powder  – 1/2 tsp

Lemon Juice  – 1 tbsp

Making Time  : 5 minutes

Vada Paruppu/ Kosambari(வட பருப்பு
கோசாம்பரி)

Moong dhal               – 1/4 cup

Chopped   Cucumber-2 tbsp.

Grated Cucumber   – 1/2 cup

Grated Coconut       – 1 tbsp

Lemon Juice            – 1 tbsp.

Hing  – 1/4 tsp

Salt to taste

Seasoning

Oil        – 1 tsp

Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp

Green Chilli (split)     – 1 no.

Curry leaves    

Coriander leaves

Preparation Time  :05 minutes

Making time             :10 minutes

Neer Moru (Spiced buttermilk)

Curd                   – 1/2 cup

Water                –  1/2 cup

Hing  powder    – 1/4 tsp

Salt to taste

Green chilli        – 1 no.

Curry leaves         

Seasoning

Oil                     – 1 tsp

Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp

Making time   :3 minutes

Panagam

Take Jaggery 1/2 cup and water 2 cups. Add dry ginger powder 1 tbsp, cardamom powder 1/2 tsp and mix till Jaggery dissolves completely. Then strain the jaggery water. Add lemon juice 1 tbsp.

Panagam is ready

Vadaparuppu-Step 1

Take Moong dhal 1/4 cup and soak for 2 hours.After the soaking period is over, drain water completely. Add  the following  items- Cucumber chopped 2 tbsp, grated cucumber 1/2 cup, salt to taste, hing powder 1/4 tsp.

 

Step 2- Seasoning

Take Oil 1 tsp in a pan. Add mustard 1/2 tsp and allow it to crackle. The add green Chilli( Julienne cut) 4-5 nos.,curry leaves 10 nos., Coraiander leaves 1 tsp. Saute well and add to cucumber dhal mixture. Then add lemon juice 1 tbsp and grated coconut 1 tbsp and mix well.

Vada paruppu is ready

Neer Moru (Spiced Buttermilk) -Step 1

Take curd 1/2 cup in a bowl and curry leaves after making it into smaller bits by hand for flavor. Add Hing 1/4 tsp,

salt to taste and green chilli 1 no. Churn well. Add Water 1 1/2 cups, lemon juice 1 tbsp.

Step 2

Take Oil 1 tsp in pan , add mustard 1/2 tsp. Once mustard crackles, take it off and add to butter milk.Remove green chilli from buttermilk.

Neer Moru (Spiced buttermilk) is ready
