
PINEAPPLE RASAM
In this post, i have covered how to cook tasty pineapple rasam at home. Pineapple rasam is often served in marriages , functions and many south Indian restaurants.. People love its flavor and the taste of pineapple. In south India, hot pineapple rasam is mixed with rice and taken as part of a meal course. You can also can have it as an appetizer soup.
Ingredients
Chopped pineapple 1/2 cup
Tamarind 1 lemon size
Tomato 1 medium size
Cooked Tur dal 1/4 cup
Rasam powder 3-4 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Hing 1/4 tsp
Salt 1 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves 2 tbsp
Tempering
Ghee 1 tsp
Mustard 1 tsp
Green chili 1 no.

Cooking time 15 min

Step 1
Grind chopped pineapple and make pineapple puree. Extract tamarind juice from tamarind by soaking in warm water for 10 minutes.In one cup of boiled water add boiled tur dal and mix well.
Step 2
In a vessel add extracted tamarind juice,turmeric powder and chopped tomatoes. Boil for 4-5 minutes.
Step 3
Add rasam powder and salt and boil for 3 minutes.
Step 4
Add pineapple puree. When it starts boiling, add diluted tur dal water.
Step 5
Once froth starts forming on surface turn off the stove. Avoid boiling. Garnish with coriander leaves and tempered mustard seeds,curry leaves. Super tasty ,sweet and tangy pineapple rasam is ready to be served. Take it with hot rice.
