Pine apple Gojju or Menaskai is an authentic curry from Karnataka specifically from Udupi region. It goes well with rice as well as chapatis. This dish is sweet, spicy and tangy curry made from pineapples.It is a popular dish during all celebrations in Karnataka. This gojju is prepared using pineapple,red chili,sesame seeds, jaggery, coconut and few other ingredients. You can also add dry grapes along with chopped pineapple pieces.
Ingredients
Pineapple pieces 1 cup
Sesame seed 2 tsp
Urad dal 2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds 1/4 tsp
Bydagi chili(Kashmiri red chili) 8 nos.
Grated coconut 1/2 cup
Tamarind 1 lemon size
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Jaggery 6 tsp
Mustard 1 tsp
Curry leaves
Salt
Oil 4 tsp

Step 1
Dry roast sesame seeds
Step 2 Heat oil in pan.
Roast urad dal,fenugreek seeds,red chili until dal turns golden brown.
Step 3
Transfer roasted ingredients into a mixie jar.Add grated coconut and roast sesame seeds.
Step 4
Add water and grind to smooth paste.
Step 5
In a pan add pineapple pieces and water.Cover lid. Cook for 5 minutes.
Step 6
Add extracted tamarind juice,salt,turmeric powder.Boil for 5 minutes.
Step 7
Add ground pastee. Mix well.Add water and dilute as required.Boil for few minutes.
Step 8
Garnish with tempering ingredients. Karnataka special pineapple gojju is ready.
