In the month of aadi it is a custom to perform Maavilakku poojai for the Ambal deity and during puratasi month it is done for Lord Srinivasa. The ingredients for both the types of pooja are nearly the same. For Ambal deity, a cup shape or Gopuram shape is made of rice flour and jaggery mix. For the deity Lord Srinivasa, the rice flour- jaggery mix is kept in loose form.
