
Karadaiyan Nonbu Vella Kozhukattai / Nonbu Adai
Karadaiyan Nonbu Vella Kozhukattai/ Nonbu adai is a sweet made during the Karadaiyan festival which is celebrated by ladies in Tamil Nadu following the end of Tamil month “masi” and starting of “Panguni”. The married woman prey for long life of their husbands.
Ingredients
Rice flour — 1 cup
Jaggery — 1- 1 1/4 cup
Karamani brown or white – 1/4 cup
Grated coconut — 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder — 1 tsp

Text Procedure
Step 1
Dry roast Karamani 1/4 cup. Wash and transfer to cooker vessel. Add 1 1/2 cup water and pressure cook till 6-7 whistles.
Step 2
Take Jaggery 1- 1 1/4 cup. Add 2 1/2 cups water.Heat and melt jaggery
Step 3
Take Rice flour 1 cup and dry roast in medium flame.Stir continuously.Continue till color changes to pale
Step 4
Filter Jaggery water.Boil for 5 minutes.
Step 5
Add grated coconut 1/2 cup and cooked Karamani.
Step 6
Add Cardamom powder 1 tsp and continue boiling for 2 more minutes.
Step 7
Add roasted rice flour
Step 8
Mix well. Switch off the stove and keep aside for 10 minutes.
Step 9
Take some mixture and make a ball. Flatten the ball and press to form
a depression at the center.
Step 10
Steam it for 10 minutes. Nonbu Vella kozhukattai / Nonbu vella adai is ready.Serve with butter.
