
How to make broken wheat vegetable khichdi
Broken Wheat Vegetable Khichdi | Dalia vegetable khichdi | Dal Kichadi Rice or Broken wheat (Daliya) mixed with split green gram (lentils) and cooked in pressure cooker is an easy and healthy recipe. Khichdi or kichadi is a comfort food for all ages. Moong lentil or dal is an easily digestible. Khichdi is very delicious fibre and protein packed and easily digestible food. Most people prefer khichdi to be the best homemade food for babies. Dal khichdi for babies: In a pressure cooked rice and dal mixture add ghee,cumin seeds and little salt. That gives a complete nourishing food for the babies. Vegetable broken wheat khichdi: I prepared dal khichdi in easy one pot rice method by pressure cooking for 1 whistle in a pressure cooker. Then i added mixed vegetable dices, spinach, tomotoes and spices and again pressure cook for 1 whistle. This khichdi can be part of your lunch or dinner menu. You can also add green gram (moong dal) to it while pressure cooking. There is no need to grind masalas. Khichdi texture is like porridge consistency. So any water for khichdi is slightly higher than what we use for preparing Uppuma.
Ingredients
Broken wheat – 1 cup
Split green gram – 1/4 cup
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Cumin seed – 1 tsp
Green chili – 2 nos (slit)
Chopped ginger – 1 tsp
Mixed vegetables – 250 gms
Chopped spinach – 1 cup
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Sambar powder – 2 tsp
Hing – 1/2 tsp
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Tomato – 2 nos (chopped)
Coriander leaves
Salt

Step 1
Rinse broken wheat and split green gram and strain water.
Step 2
Heat ghee in pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds,chopped ginger,green chili and broken wheat and dal mixture. Saute for few seconds. Add salt and hot water. Keep stove in low flame.Pressure cook for 1 whistle and keep aside for 15 minutes.
Step 3
Add mixed vegetables, chopped tomatoes, chopped spinach, turmeric powder, sambar powder ,hing, garam masala ,salt and ghee with cooked broken wheat mixture.
Step 4
Add hot water and pressure cook again for 1 whistle. Keep aside for 5 minutes.
Step 5
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Healthy and delicious khichdi is ready. Serve with papad or curd with pickle.
