Dwadasi Paranai | துவாதசி பாரணை

Complete fasting is observed on Ekadasi Thithi by many people. The day next to Ekadasi is called Dwadasi. People who fasted on Ekadasi day will have a Dwadasi Paranai ( துவாதசி பாரணை) on this day to end the fasting. The food is prepared with very little tamarind and khara.

Dwadasi Paranai- 7 recipes & Ingredients

1)✅ Agathi keerai masiyal

Agathi keerai – 2 cups

Moong dal – 1/4 cup

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Oil 2-3 tsp

Mustard – 1 tsp

Urad dal – 1 tsp

Red chili – 1 no

Salt

Jaggery – 3 tsp (optional)

Hing – 1/4 tsp

Grated coconut – 1/4 cup

2) ✅Nellikai pachadi (Gooseberry pachadi)

Gooseberry 3 nos. shredded

Grated coconut 2 tbsp

Green chili 1 no.

Ginger 1″ piece

Hing 1/4 tsp

Curd 1/2 cup

Oil 1 tsp

Mustard 1/2 tsp

Salt

3)✅Roasted sundakai

Gingelly oil – 3 tsp

Dried sundakai – 2 tbsp

4)✅Mor kuzhambu (Mor kulambu / Buttermilk sambar)

Tur dal – 2 tsp

Fenugreek – 1/4 tsp

Raw rice – 1 tsp

Coriander seed – 1 tsp

Cumin seed – 1 tsp

Green chili – 3 nos

Grated coconut – 1 tbsp

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Hing – 1/4 tsp

Boiled white pumpkin – 1/2 cup

Thick butter milk – 1 cup

Salt

Coconut oil – 1 tbsp

Mustard – 1 tsp

Red chili – 1 tsp

Roasted sundakai – 1 tbsp

5)✅Parangikai pal kootu

Grated coconut – 1/2 cup

Rice flour – 1 tsp

Green chili – 1 no

Milk – 1/4 cup

Pumpkin – 350 gms(chopped)

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Salt

Milk – 1/2 cup

Sugar – 3 tsp

Coconut oil – 1 tbsp

Mustard – 1 tsp

Urad dal – 1 tsp

Red chili – 1 no

6)✅Lemon paruppu rasam

Red chili – 1 no

Coriander seed – 2 tsp

Black pepper – 1 tsp

Cumin seed – 1/2 tsp

Ginger – 1 small piece

Broken wheat – 1/2 cup

Moong dal – 2 tsp

Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
