Banana Halwa is a very delicious sweet which is also easy to prepare. In this recipe we have used caramelized sugar which adds a nice flavor and also natural reddish brown color to the sweet.
Banana ripe – 3 nos.
Corn flour – 1/4 cup
Ghee – 1/4 cup approx.
Sugar – 1/2 cup
Water – 3/4 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
Cashew nuts – 1 tbsp
Cooking time : 20 min
Take 3 nos. ripe banana. Peel off the outer skin. Chop the peeled banana to small pieces and mash in a mixie.
Transfer 1 cup mashed banana to mixie jar. Add corn flour 1/4 cup and sugar 1/4 cup and grind the ingredients.
Step 2 – caramelization-sugar
Take sugar 1/4 cup in a pan and add 10 ml water. Keep Stove in low flame. Avoid stirring often. allow sugar to melt completely. Continue for approx. 1 min to get reddish brown color. Sugar is caramelized. It takes approx. 7-8min. Now keep stove in low flame. Take 3/4 cup water but add little qty water slowly for temperature to reduce and then add balance water.
Add mashed banana. Keep stove in medium flame and stir continuously. Add ghee 3-4 times in small quantities( total 1/4 cup). Then add cardamom powder 1/2 tsp and cashew nut pieces 1 tbsp. Once the mixture thickens, transfer to greased plate.
Flatten it and cool to room temp. Once cooled,make pieces. Delicious Banana Halwa ready
